Deepfakes, which use artificial intelligence to create realistic yet completely made-up videos, have developed as an important threat to public trust, specially when used to copy public figures or spread false news.


To deal this issue, YouTube is investing in advanced detection technologies that analyze key physical appearance of AI-generated videos. These technologies power machine learning algorithms trained on huge datasets of deepfake and authentic content, allowing the platform to find understated differences, such as abnormal facial movements, unpredictable lighting, or other irregularities. YouTube’s approach likely trusts these visual cues with audio analysis, more confirming that content which mimics real persons’ voices can be analyzed for authenticity.
