A new interface between Spotify and BeReal will allow users to share what they’re listening to on Spotify in their BeReal posts. BeReal urges users to utilize both their front and back cameras to take a photo of themselves every day at an arbitrary time to present an accurate representation of themselves. According to Spotify, the company’s integration with the platform gives the daily posts more legitimacy.

When a BeReal is about to be posted, a music symbol will appear. By pressing on it, you can link your Spotify and BeReal accounts. Alternatively, you can access your settings in the BeReal app, select “music,” and then follow the on-screen instructions to link the app to Spotify.

Spotify and Bereal integration

After you’ve linked your accounts, the app will automatically import the song or podcast you’re listening to on Spotify at the moment you take a BeReal. At the bottom of your camera lens, you’ll see the album cover for the audio you’re currently listening to. You can hear a sample of what your friends have shared if their postings have audio.

“Spotify was built for moments of everyday inspiration, discovery, and interactivity. It also creates the playlist for your everyday life,” Spotify wrote in a blog post. “BeReal is designed to capture and share authentic moments in your daily life with your closest friends. Combining audio from Spotify with BeReal adds another layer of authentic personalization and connection to your BeReal.”

Users of BeReal and Spotify on Android and iOS in a few countries, such as Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, and the United States, can enjoy the connection as of right now. In the future, the corporations intend to expand the integration to more nations.

The integration takes place just as interest in BeReal is starting to wane. According to analytics company Apptopia, the number of daily users of the app has decreased 61% from its peak, from approximately 15 million in October to less than 6 million in March.

The photo-sharing app gained a lot of traction on social media last year thanks to its attempt to provide users with a more real photo feed than Instagram’s carefully managed look. Due to the app’s popularity, big social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat raced to clone it within their applications to profit from its success.

BeReal’s new Spotify integration is unlikely to be a game-changer for the firm, but it may persuade some of its devoted fans to utilize the app differently. BeReal offers a rather simple product and isn’t frequently updated with new features, unlike other well-known applications, so the inclusion of a new function that maintains authenticity is probably a nice change for consumers.
