Microsoft will host a significant news conference on February 7th. Minutes after Google made its ChatGPT rival official, the software behemoth is today formally announcing an in-person event that will take place at the company’s Redmond headquarters. Invitations to the event were first mailed out last week.

Microsoft isn’t giving out many hints about the event, which begins on February 7 at 10 AM Pacific/1 PM Eastern. However, it’s likely that the business will concentrate on its alleged ChatGPT integration into Bing and its more extensive cooperation with OpenAI.

What’s the event about?

Expect a number of significant announcements since the invitation states Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella will “discuss some progress on a few exciting projects.” The invitation comes just after Microsoft extended its collaboration with OpenAI in a $10 billion deal, making it OpenAI’s sole cloud partner. All OpenAI workloads across products, API services, and research will be powered by Microsoft’s cloud computing resources.

Additionally, Microsoft’s event comes shortly after Google unveiled Bard, a rival to ChatGPT. Only a small group of people are now testing the “experimental conversational AI service,” but Google pledges to make it more widely available to the public in the upcoming weeks.

Microsoft Vs Google

Microsoft will integrate ChatGPT into Bing search results as a response to Google’s Bard competition. Some Bing users noticed a brand-new chat section with a chatbot-like user interface last week, suggesting that this connection may have briefly slipped. This is simply referred to by Microsoft as “the new Bing,” which will offer “full answers” to actual queries.

Microsoft also intends to integrate the various OpenAI models into its own consumer and business solutions. There are reports that Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook may also acquire OpenAI capabilities in addition to Bing. Microsoft just released Microsoft Teams Premium, which includes OpenAI-powered features.

Additionally, Microsoft’s presentation will take place the day before Google’s own search and AI-focused event on February 8. The unexpected release of Bard only one day before Microsoft’s presentation shows that the search engine giant is extremely alarmed. The recent debut of ChatGPT is said to have sparked fears within Google.

We expect to see a lot more of this ChatGPT integration in Bing going forward, as well as details about how Microsoft intends to use OpenAI models into its various products.
